FAMILY MEDIATION AND PARENTING PLANS
What is mediation:
Mediation allows for two conflicting parties to attempt to reach a mutually, acceptable agreement through a cooperative process. A third party, in this case, an Educational Psychologist, aims to provide a safe and mutual environment by participating in discussions, acting as a facilitator and even as a leader in the negotiations, however the third party does not make decisions during the mediation process. The third party will ensure that the best interest of the child principle as per the Children’s Act 38 of 2005 Section 9, is followed during the mediation process. (The mediation guide . 2020.
